Eat Drink Design Awards – Shortlist Announced

Eat Drink Design Shortlist Revealed 24 August

The 2022 EDDA shortlist has been announced, and what a sight for sore eyes!

The 2022 Eat Drink Design Awards shortlist was announced at NOROCK distributor and principal partner, James Richardson Furniture (JRF), Sydney showroom and the nominees are outstanding. NOROCK self-stabilising table bases is a proud supporting partner of the awards and our Co-Founder / Technical Director, Toby Heyring, and Sales & Marketing Director, Claire Spalding, thoroughly enjoyed the night.

The award recognises both Australia and New Zealand’s “innovation and excellence in the design of hospitality premises of all scales and types, retail environments for the sale of food and beverages and visual identities for both. The 112 entries into the shortlist, presented by Artichoke magazine, are vying for the following wins:

Best Restaurant Design

Best Bar Design

Best Cafe Design

Best Hotel Design

Best Retail Design

Best Installation Design

Best Identity Design

Congratulations to all the nominees, we can’t wait to try each and every one of you!

The design community seems to be embracing a trend towards nostalgia and familiarity in uncertain, troubling times – ones that are given form, thankfully, in an original and innovative way that avoids simple mimicry.

We may be biased, but we are very excited about this shortlisting for Best Retail Design: Mata Design Studio for Tom’s Providore & Wine Bar, pictured here (photograph by Ross Wallace Photography) with our NOROCK Terrace self-stabilising table bases. Located in Perth, Western Australia, there could be no better place to spend a balmy night sipping a glass of wine outdoors. “Tom’s Providore & Wine Bar is a European-inspired cafe, providore and small bar venue that transitions from morning coffees to late-night drinks. The insertions in the interior are clean and paired back, sitting comfortably against the Federation Free Classical heritage building.”

Congratulations to both Tom’s Providore and Mata Design on your nomination — our fingers are crossed!

The winners will be revealed on the 10th of August with the main event at Two Ton Max in North Melbourne. Good luck to all the venues, designers and architects vying for these prestigious awards!
